Bali Starling or Bali Myna
I worked with the conservation of this species in Bali island when it was under heavy pressure from illegal trade. At one time in history there was only one bird left in the wild. Efforts from many organisations, the Indonesian Government, many NGOs and local passionate people were successful in bringing the wild population back from the brink of extinction. Now they can be easily seen flying free in Bali Barat National Park.

The Bali myna is a medium-sized, stocky myna, almost wholly white with a long, drooping crest, and black tips on the wings and tail. The bird has blue bare skin around the eyes, greyish legs and a yellow bill. Both sexes are similar. It is critically endangered and in 2018, fewer than 100 adults were assumed to exist in the wild.
