Silver Marsh Spider Tetragnathidae Leucauginae I found three of these little beauties outside the house today ranging in size from about 20 - 30mm. Unfortunately I was unable to see the other side as the webs were against a retaining wall. if they are still there tomorrow I can see if they have moved. Or in hindsight, I shall use a mirror! 1. It is likely the same genus, but as in the comment below one of the photos, you need both sides for a species ID. What you have mentioned in the title is not a single species name - Tetragnathidae is the family, Leucauginae - subfamily and Leucauge is the genus.
Here's another similar one with a few suggestions for species found in South Africa.

      1. I just deployed the new manual species creation feature. Maybe we can give it a try on this photo. Details:

    1. Thank you! Normally I would have seen this as just another spider, but with the macro I now realize that the garden is filled with beautiful things, this one is quite stunning isn't it! Posted 11 years ago
  3. Unique pattern on the spider. Great shot Clarie.! Posted 11 years ago

Members of this Leucauge are recognised by the bright colours on their elongated abdomens. They build orb webs, usually near water or in shaded damp areas. They are active during the day hanging head down on their webs. There are nine species known in South Africa and are generally referred to as Silver Marsh Spiders.

Listed under Tetragnathidae however according to Biodiversity Explorer Leucauge is now listed under Nephilidae. As this is cannot be confirmed, this remains under Tetragnathidae
