Common Kingfisher

  2. Sunil, I've always wanted to shoot on of those. with my camera that is. Amazing little speedy birds. Well shot .Are they nervous in nature, aka do they actually sit still at all? Posted 11 years ago
    1. Hey Ludo , its been long time since we met here, nice to see you again in JD. Yes, mine dream was too to shoot it like this, this was the first time from past few years & yesterday I was lucky enough to find this one. This bird was busy in fishing, they actually don't sit still in place, Its delayed prey made it to sit quite for few seconds,even I was waiting patiently for this for long time & this is the result. The Common Kingfisher is a small kingfisher with seven subspecies recognized within its wide distribution across Eurasia and North Africa. It is resident in much of its range, but migrates from areas where rivers freeze in winter.
