
The crimson-crested Woodpecker is a very large woodpecker which is a resident breeding bird from Panama south to northern border regions of Argentina, and on Trinidad.

Notice the black and white patch on the otherwise entirely red head combined with the dark throat, that's the mark of a male Crimson-crested Woodpecker. Lineated of either sex would have a white stripe starting at the base of the bill and crossing the entire head. Posted 2 years ago
