Devil's Garden, Caquetá, Colombia We were attending a path long abandoned, requiring lots of machete action to move forward. When we saw this unexpected clearing in the forest, we recognized it from an earlier trip as to be a Devil's Garden. The thin trees in the middle host a species of ant that will poison any seedlings in the immediate surroundings. In return, the tree provides shelter and food for the ants.
