Anticipating this achievement, I've had time to consider a next target which I've named "War of the Wings": there should be more birds on JD than moths/butterflies. We can't let these silly light huggers win. Posted 2 years ago
We're going to be hard-pressed to get more birds than moths/butterflies, though. We only have 10,500 species of birds to work with! Posted 2 years ago
Kidding aside, my target wasn't very serious. It cannot be achieved in the long run, as you say. 4,500 may be a nice achievable target, and a bit longer term I'm hoping for 5,000. I do believe though that there's a diminishing return. It will get ever harder to add new ones, as they obviously were (very) uncommon or hard to reach. Posted 2 years ago

As for (sub)species, the new taxonomy update has a added quite a few things for Peru. I'll see what I can scrounge up! Posted 2 years ago
Neotropical Birding has an upcoming article on Amazon subspecies. That should an interesting piece. Posted 2 years ago
