Electrophorus electricus, Caquetá,Colombia
This night tour's theme was "reckless actions", such as being at touch distance with a Brazilian Wandering Spider, paper wasp nest, and as highlight the discovery of this electric eel. I had to stand right next to it in the shallow water to photograph it as I only had my macro kit with me.
It's debatable how dangerous this really is. It depends on their size (this one is 1m). A maximum voltage shock can definitely stun a human enough to make them go into cardiac arrest and drown, although this rarely happens.

The electric eel is a South American electric fish, and the only species in its genus. Despite the name, it is not an eel, but rather a knifefish.
