Lioness chewing on Warthog Head under tree in Central Serengeti This was one of our most interesting big cat spottings, so I will share the behavior of this one in detail across various shots. By chance we found this Lioness quietly chewing on something which later on turned out to be a warthog head. There are two other lionesses nearby. The lion is one of the five big cats in the genus "Panthera" and a member of the family Felidae. The commonly used term African lion collectively denotes the several subspecies found in Africa. With some males exceeding 250 kg in weight, it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger.
