Enjoying a snack!
As one of our most common sparrows and also one of the most common birds in our area they are often overlooked or ignored. Their variations in colour from bird to bird are amazing and they are so entertaining to watch while they bicker and scrap even though there is lots of food available. This female is very aware that I am taking the photo!

The dark-eyed junco is a species of junco, a group of small, grayish New World sparrows. This bird is common across much of temperate North America and in summer ranges far into the Arctic. It is a very variable species, much like the related fox sparrow, and its systematics are still not completely untangled.
