
Heterophrynus batesii - closeup, Caquetá, Colombia
These awesome creatures are like a hybrid of a crab (they walk on six legs, sideways), katydid (the long whips are basically antennae), and a mantid (grabby arms, pedipalps in this case).
Despite their intimidating experience, in my experience they're quite shy. They have no venomous fangs.
