D'Arnoud's Barbet awaiting lunch leftover
This looks like it could be taken from a zoo, but this is at the heart of the Serengeti. There is a small place to do lunch stops there, which attract the non-shy birds, such as this beautiful Barbet. I remember it as a hellish lunch, at the hottest time of day it felt like 50C.
D'Arnaud's barbet is an African barbet. Barbets and toucans are a group of near passerine birds with a worldwide tropical distribution. The barbets get their name from the bristles which fringe their heavy bills. Four geographical races have been recorded.
