The variegated bristle tyrant is a species of passerine bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. This species is sometimes placed in the genus "Phylloscartes". Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
