A Sparassis radicata! Quite the catchy name for this cauliflower mushroom. This one was a small specimen. Including all lobes it was only 20cm across. It was dry to the touch. Not a surprise considering the lack of rain over the past two months. It was growing on the underground root of a dead Douglas Fir tree. One description reads, “looks like a large clump of tightly packed egg-noodles”. I have to completely agree!
