Ficaria verna Huds. 1762
These small flowers are early birds, they bring color and scent to us already in March and April. Ficaria verna, known as lesser celandine or pilewort starts flowering after the winter, when the trees are leafless and the sunlight is shining on the forest floor. She has a wonderful scent. From mid-May, the leaves lose their shine, wither and the entire plant retires.

"Ficaria verna" is a low-growing, hairless perennial flowering plant in the buttercup family Ranunculaceae native to Europe and west Asia. It has fleshy dark green, heart-shaped leaves and distinctive flowers with bright yellow, glossy petals.
