Petunia × atkinsiana
Garden Petunias produce blossoms till end of November. The blossoms are very fragil and don‘t like heavy rainfall.
The edible flowers are eaten locally. A very common plant in flower gardens, there are hundreds of named varieties. Although providing many well-known foods for people, including the potato, tomato, pepper and aubergine, most plants in the family Solanaceae also contain poisonous alkaloids. Unless there are specific entries with information on edible uses, it would be unwise to ingest any part of this plant.

"Petunia" × "atkinsiana" is a "Petunia" plant "nothospecies", which encompasses all hybrid species of petunia between "P. axillaris" and "P. integrifolia". Most of the petunias sold for cultivation in home gardens are this type and belong to this nothospecies.
