Grey Dagger Moth (Acronicta psi) Larvae
I stumbled across three of these larvae in a plant pot that I'd left unplanted, in order to see what might self-seed.
At first i thought it was one of the Hawk moth larvae given the 'horn' but soon realised this wasn't the case, since the 'horn' wasn't at the tail end, but close to it's head.
As adults I probably wouldn't have been able to identify them.
Find out why, here:

The Grey Dagger is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It is found from Europe and North Africa to northern Iran, Central Asia, southern and central Siberia and Mongolia. In the Levant it is found in Lebanon and Israel.

The pot in question is at eye level along with others on my garage roof as I do so, which is how it caught my eye when I went to water the pots.
Anywhere else and I may well have missed them. Posted 2 years ago
