A Savannah Sparrow!

Another bird just passing through. I have been told the markings of this sparrow indicate it has come form somewhere in the Aleutian Islands. Hard for me to imagine! It was feeding on the dried grass seeds.

The Savannah sparrow is a small American sparrow. It is the only widely accepted member of the genus ''Passerculus''. The common name comes from Savannah, Georgia, where one of the first specimens of this bird was collected.
