          This is my favorite:
          Flying Duck orchid (Caleana major) A small cluster of about a dozen were found in dry sandy loam beside a walking track. Plants were about 280mm tall. The Duck is about 20mm from top to bottom. Australia,Caleana major,Flying Duck Orchid,Geotagged,Langwarrin Reserve,Spring

            Oh these are adorable, Christine! Thanks for sharing the orchids page, I can get lost on it very gladly!
            @Alexander, yes, indeed, their centers look like small figurines in many cases. They are supposed to trick insects into thinking they found a mate but some of them really go beyond all imagination when it comes to design! and of course the hybrids made by humans emphasize these features even more :-)             Posted 2 years ago
