Leopard yawning in Serengeti The Serengeti is abundant in wildlife, spotting big cats is no rarity. Spotting a leopard though grabs everyone's attention, even more so when it is in on the ground with a clear view. We spent about an hour observing this family of Leopards, and I still did not want to leave. I consider them the most beautiful big cat, with only the tiger more beautiful. The leopard is one of the five "big cats" in the genus "Panthera". It is a member of the Felidae family with a wide range in regions of sub-Saharan Africa, West Asia, the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia to Siberia. Fossil records found in Italy suggest that in the Pleistocene it ranged as far as Europe.
