Male lion ate too much, Serengeti, Tanzania I should have recorded a movie from this one. This male Lion in the Serengeti just finished what seems like a very large meal. Check out the tight belly for evidence. It was breathing very heavily almost as if it was dying. Adult lions only require one big meal per weak. The lion is one of the five big cats in the genus "Panthera" and a member of the family Felidae. The commonly used term African lion collectively denotes the several subspecies found in Africa. With some males exceeding 250 kg in weight, it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger.
