      1. I read up on this after seeing your photo this morning and discovered that research showed that losing 1-2 limbs does not negatively impact web building or prey capture for orb weavers. The spiders do compensate in other ways -- I think it was focusing on producing only certain types of silk, using less to wrap prey, etc. Posted 2 years ago

"Trichonephila clavipes" is a species of golden orb-web spider. It lives in the warmer regions of the Americas. The large size and bright colours of the species make it distinctive. The female is much larger than the male.
