Comnon frog in Heeswijk-Dinther This one truly scared me. I was finding myself alone in the forest focusing on some fungi when this toad out of the blue jumped into the scene. It did a few hops and then settled down. I then slowly inched forward and took a few shots. Autumn,Common frog,Fall,Heeswijk,Netherlands,Rana temporaria Click/tap to enlarge Promoted

"Rana temporaria" is found throughout much of Europe as far north as well north of the Arctic Circle in Scandinavia and as far east as the Urals, except for most of Iberia, southern Italy, and the southern Balkans. The farthest west it can be found is Ireland, where it has long been thought erroneously to be an entirely introduced species.
