White-nosed Saki Wonderful monkey living in familial groups, seen from the Juruena river and in the canopy of the primary rainforest abounding the river. Appears to make the Wooly Monkey look "under-dressed", excuse the anthropomorphic comment. Its conservation status listing is vulnerable. The white-nosed saki is endemic to the south-central Amazon rainforest in Brazil, particularly between the rivers Xingu and Madeira and farther south to the Guaporé River in Rondônia. They prefer to be in high forests, especially high terra firme forests. Doesn't appear to venture to the forest floor to avoid predators such as Jaguar and Humans. 1. Very nice mammal intro! The nose is so pink that I first figured to be looking at its back, hehe. Posted 3 years ago
    1. You're right - similar at the other end, but for the sake of good taste, you can see the white hair here for which the Saki is named.

The white-nosed saki is a species of bearded saki, a type of New World monkey, endemic to the south-central Amazon rainforest in Brazil. Both its scientific and common name were caused by the authors working from dead specimens, where the skin on and around the nose fades to a whitish color. In living individuals, the nose is actually bright pink.
