    1. Indeed! It's rare for me to get such a nice hummingbird photo op away from hummingbird gardens, but this one was just hanging out 5 meters away from a footbridge, and kept coming back to that exact same perch for several minutes, despite the two photographers going off in full burst mode! The sword-billed hummingbird is a neotropical species of hummingbird from the Andean regions of South America. It is the sole member of the genus "Ensifera" and is characterized by its unusually long bill size; it is the only bird to have a beak longer than the length of its body.
