Yellow-brain fungus on berk tree in dutch forest - 2 I really don't like the dark season here in the northwest of Europe, but each season has its blessings. The focus of my walk last sunday was on fungi, for lack of something else on display. These bright orange fungi are quite easy to spot. Although quite common the world over, I don't recall seeing them often. Autumn,Fall,Heesch,Netherlands,Tremella mesenterica Click/tap to enlarge

"Tremella mesenterica" is a common jelly fungus in the Tremellaceae family of the Agaricomycotina. It is most frequently found on dead but attached and on recently fallen branches, especially of angiosperms, as a parasite of wood decay fungi in the genus "Peniophora".
