      1. We have a similar species:
        Northern Maindenhair Fern - Adiantum pedatum Maindenhair ferns have fan-shaped whorls of leaflets that are held horizontally. The subleaflets are oblong and are toothed on one edge. The spore cases are located along the toothed edges. The stalks are black and wiry. <br />
<br />
 Spotted in a rich, deciduous forest. <br />
