  1. One of two magpies who are constant visitors to our garden. They introduce their young each year. Last year they had three offspring. Posted 3 years ago
    1. Do they ever show interest in shiny items? Steal things? Posted 3 years ago
      1. Our local satin bowerbird is attracted to blue items but not the magpie. The maggie will pinch coconut matting to add to its nest. Their warble is very melodius. Apparently they can remember up to 100 faces and associate them with kindness or aggression. We never get swooped by them during mating season. Posted 3 years ago

The Australian magpie is a medium-sized black and white passerine bird native to Australia and southern New Guinea. Although once considered to be three separate species, it is now considered to be one, with nine recognised subspecies.
