Sceliphron caementarium, mud dauber
Note: Yearsrs ago, one flew in the house. I thought it was a wasp at the time. I tried to shoo it away with a rag which angered it. Next thing I knew it, it ended up in my shorts and bit my lower stomach. No allergic reaction. Just a bump. I read they rarely bite. They're solitary. I found evidence of them when we move in years prior of the incident. They made mud nest in the blinds which is almost like cement. Hard to remove.

Black and yellow mud dauber is a common name for the sphecid wasp species "Sceliphron caementarium". They are solitary insects that build nests out of mud, in sheltered locations, frequently on man-made structure such as bridges, barns, open porches or under the eaves of houses.
