    1. It emerged from the smallish grassy area and was on a flag-stone, I moved it a little higher as it was in danger of being trampled by my dog - 30 minutes later the sun moved round to where it was & then it was gone. Posted 3 years ago

"Mimas tiliae", known as the Lime Hawk-moth, is a moth of the family Sphingidae. It is found throughout the Palearctic region and the Near East, and has also been identified in Eastern Canada.
