    1. Hard to call it a hike - there's tide pooling right in the city, along Puget Sound, so it's a literal walk on the beach ;). Definitely some pretty cool stuff out there. I missed the really low minus tides Wednesday and Thursday, because I had to work - the minus tides were 4 feet and this day was only 2.5. I'm still going back out today though- they'll be 1.5 feet, so there may not be quite as much to see (the critters change as you go 'deeper'), but I'm going to a different beach so you never know -and it's going to be rainy again... but that's not actually bad for tide pooling. It's actually harder to get decent photos when the sun's full out because of all the reflections. Posted 3 years ago

"Boltenia villosa" is a species of tunicate, a marine invertebrate of the family Pyuridae. This species was first described in 1864 by the American marine biologist William Stimpson who gave it the name "Cynthia villosa". It was later transferred to the genus "Boltenia". The type locality is Puget Sound, Washington state, United States.
