  1. Thanks for posting both, I like them both. I can understand your remark about tripods, but if this is a spontaneous event and you were not waiting for it, tripods will help very little and restrict movement too much in my experience. Even with a tripod the challenge is in focusing correctly. Posted 11 years ago

The yellow-billed kite is the Afrotropic counterpart of the black kite, of which it is most often considered a subspecies. However, recent DNA studies suggest that the yellow-billed kite differs significantly from black kites in the Eurasian clade, and should be considered as a separate, allopatric species.
