  1. Just adding a fun fact: recently on a nature show a man approached a group of Bisons. He was standing right next to them and was totally being ignored. He then kneeled to make himself smaller, and that triggered a mass panic in the group. Apparently by size and height they judge a friend or foe. Posted 11 years ago
    1. Wow, that's really interesting. Strange to think that they were calm when he was just standing around, but panicked when he was "smaller". Thanks for sharing that; I will definitely keep that in mind when I am around them again next year... Posted 11 years ago

The American bison is a North American species of bison that once roamed the grasslands of North America in massive herds. Their range once roughly comprised a triangle between the Great Bear Lake in Canada's far northwest, south to the Mexican states of Durango and Nuevo León, and east along the western boundary of the Appalachian Mountains.
