  1. This species is like a ringtone. Nice shot! Posted 3 years ago
    1. Thanks! I have no clue what that means and even googled it. Posted 3 years ago
      1. Oh, and I forgot to mention that the hindwings have a velvet-like texture! Posted 3 years ago
        1. Nice! Surely you know what a ringtone is, the sound that plays when you get an incoming call? Posted 3 years ago
          1. Lol, duh. How does this compare to a ringtone, though? To me, ringtones are annoying and 99% hideous noise pollution. Posted 3 years ago
            1. The joke is that this is a cicada which produce a lot of (vibrating) sound. Given it's large wing span I imagine it's absurdly loud. Hence, the species as a whole is like a ringtone, nothing but sound.

              Thanks for ruining my joke.

    1. Thanks William! I especially loved the green shimmer on the wings and thought you'd appreciate that as well. :) Posted 3 years ago

''Tosena albata'' is a cicada species from Southeast Asia. It was described by William Lucas Distant in 1878 who, however, subsequently regarded it as a variety of ''Tosena melanoptera''.
