
Dracula lafleurii, Los Cedros Reserve, Ecuador
Orchids in the Dracula genus mimic mushrooms visually (lower labellum) and by scent, tricking flies into visiting them, making possible pollination. Dracula orchids are only found in pristine primary cloud forests. They also grow in the shade as they cannot tolerate direct sunlight or high temperatures.
