Trying to cool down on a very hot day! When a crocodile is basking, or laying in the sun, it is raising its body temperature. When it wants to cool back down it can move out of the sun into the shade or a body of water. Another option for the crocodile is to open its mouth. This behavior is a way for the crocodile to release the heat from its body.<br />

The saltwater crocodile is the largest of all living reptiles, as well as the largest riparian predator in the world. Males of this species can reach sizes up to at least 6.30 m and possibly up to 7.0 m in length. However, an adult male saltwater crocodile rarely reaches or exceeds a size of 6 m weighing 1,000 to 1,200 kg.
