  1. Another little teaser from Peru :)
    This is easily one of the most stunning Peruvian hummingbirds, found on its arid coast, and barely entering southern Ecuador and northern Chile. It's really quite common, but very territorial, and it's rare to find a male with a complete tail like this. It took me three visits to different parks in Lima (that's right, you can see it right in the middle of that busy megalopolis, a fact 99% of Limeños are sadly unaware of) to finally spot this one. I spent two hours right under its perch and took about 700 photos - this is one of the better ones :)

The Peruvian sheartail is a hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. The species was first described by René Lesson and Prosper Garnot in 1827.
