Dynamic fiery skimmer
It may be officially autumn in these southern, temperate parts, but invertebrate activity continues unabated.
This is a male fiery skimmer and they delight with their dynamic colours, flitting through foliage and skimming over water surfaces.
The fiery skimmer can be seen here in eastern and northern Australia, as well as in New Guinea and adjacent islands.
Body length 45 mm and wingspan around 85 mm
