  1. That's a lovely composition Ernst, very pretty. Knowing how attractive buddleia are to butterflies - but appreciating how easily they seed and become weeds here in Australia - I've resisted bringing any in to my gardens. But this spring, after research, I was able to source a sterile, dwarf form which I purchased and planted. Description read, 'retaining gorgeous blooms and scent to delight humans and insects alike'. Butterflies observed visiting the bush this past summer? ZERO! It's had plenty of flowers, (small, but scented). There may have been visits when I wasn't at home of course, but I remember the ones my father grew and there were butterflies on them all the time. Oh well, I'll give it another season or two. 1. Thank you Ruth. The monarch butterflies and a few cabbage whites is all I did see on the buddleia all year. Posted 3 years ago

The monarch butterfly or simply monarch is a milkweed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae. Other common names depending on region include milkweed, common tiger, wanderer, and black veined brown. It may be the most familiar North American butterfly, and is considered an iconic pollinator species.
