River on a lake
The setting sun over Pelican Bay on Devils Lake, North Dakota. The bull rushes growing in the water form a channel of water, representing a river. If you look closely, you will see dozens of hatching adult midges (Chironomidae). The name Devils Lake came about from a misinterpretation between the native Souix tribes and white settlers. The Souix referred to the lake as "Lake of the Spirits", but due to poor communication, white settlers called it Devils Lake.
