Male impala chases away another male Impala - 1 of 3
In Lake Manyara NP, Tanzania we suddenly were surprised by two male Impalas racing by our jeep. Likely this was a dispute of establishing dominance. Dominant male Impalas get all the females in a harem whilst the rest gets nothing. However, dominance comes with a steep price. You can't help but wonder who is better off.
The impala is a medium-sized African antelope. It is the type species of the genus "Aepyceros" and belongs to the family Bovidae. Two subspecies of the impala have been recognised: the common impala and the black-faced.
