  1. Capercaillie photography is rather difficult and mainly possible in Northern countries. I photographed this bird in Bulgaria where a tame but aggressive bird was approaching photographers without any worries. It was great experience!
    Unfortunately, other than photographers, other "people" who were appreciating nature in their own way, decided to "save" the bird for themselves and put the head of the bird on their wall. Thus the bird is not alive anymore... Such a pity!

The Western Capercaillie is the largest member of the grouse family. The largest known specimen, recorded in captivity, had a weight of 7.2 kg. Found across Europe and Asia, it is renowned for its mating display.
