    2. Also note that there's many species of veneer moths. In spring/summer, walk in tall grass and you'll disturb many of them, they're easy to find this way. Posted 3 years ago
      1. Or, simply lay on the ground in a meadow, forest, garden, etc. and wait for things to move. That's my tactic. Posted 3 years ago
        1. Agree, sitting still is a great way to discover lots of things where you're not sure upfront what you might find.

          Intentional disturbance can be very time effective too for particular creatures. Like the grass moths but also frogs.

          1. When I was in grad school, I would walk through meadows with my friends and afterwards we would pick the bugs off each other and ID them. It was so fun.

            Frogs in the woods are like squirrels on roads. They dart right out in front of you, making it hard not to squash them.
