Australian Cassowary Another great memory of Australia from the Far North Queensland, the Australian Cassowary, an incredible being. This one was a little too used to the presence of the man, he approached less than 2 meters from me, I was alert but he was as curious as me I think! 1. Apart of Etty Bay beach, I saw them in the wild when I was walking around Mission beach and before Cap Tribulation on the boardwalk in the mangrove but I don't remember its name. And you sometimes cross them around the road as well ! Posted 3 years ago

The Southern Cassowary also known as Double-wattled Cassowary, Australian Cassowary or Two-wattled Cassowary, is a large flightless black bird. It is a ratite and therefore related to the Emu, Ostrich, and the genus ''Rhea''.
