Chalciporus subrubinellus Growing under mostly pine (with the occasional hardwood) in a grassy area near a lake. Lots of Suillus, Lactarius, and Russula sp. nearby. Gordon County, Georgia, US. October 2021.

Pore surface darkened from pinkish red to dark red when scratched. No noticeable staining of flesh. Stem is almost entirely red with the exception of the base (which is yellow). I did not taste it due to health issues/sensitivities.
1. Thank you. They are pores rather than gills as it is a bolete--but they are still quite unusual even for pores! Posted 3 years ago
