Young_Mantled_Howler_Monkey-5933 This young Howler Monkey had been resting on this limb and was curious about my activities with my photo equipment. This shot gives a good view of how long their fingers are even at a young age. This one was among a group of 10-12 young and mature Mantled Howler Monkeys in Costa Rica I photographed in December of 2012. The mantled howler, or golden-mantled howling monkey, is a species of howler monkey, a type of New World monkey, from Central and South America. It is one of the monkey species most often seen and heard in the wild in Central America. It takes its "mantled" name from the long guard hairs on its sides.
