14-spotted Ladybird - Propylea quatuordecimpunctata Tan elytra with black rectangular spots. Elytra are supposed to have 14 spots, some of which may be fused near the midline. This one only seems to have 12, so perhaps my ID is incorrect?<br />

Tan elytra with black rectangular spots. Elytra are supposed to have 14 spots, some of which may be fused near the midline. This one only seems to have 12, so perhaps my ID is incorrect?

  1. I wish I could help but these give me a headache each time. Like you said, spots may be merged. The other thing I remember is that this one is supposed to have pale legs compared to whatever it can be confused with. Posted 3 years ago

The 14-spotted ladybird is a small lady beetle, belonging to the family Coccinellidae. It is sometimes referred to by the common name 14-spotted ladybird beetle, or simply P-14.
