A female Ostrich walks the tall grass of Tarangire NP, Tanzania during the dry season. They spend a lot of time looking up, probably to spot predators as well as potential males. The female is easily recognized by its brownish feathers.

The ostrich or common ostrich is either one or two species of large flightless birds native to Africa, the only living member of the genus ''Struthio'', which is in the ratite family.
