Fire Across the Tobacco Roots
I captured this image of a canola field at foot of the Tobacco Root Mountains just a little ways out of Ennis, Montana during a wildfire outbreak. Personally, I love this picture, although I do apologize for the graininess as light was fading fast. The colors in the photo are real; I only tampered with the brightness before posting. Many thanks to the numerous paid and volunteer firefighters I saw that day at the base camp along the road.
Rapeseed, also known as rape, oilseed rape, rapa, rappi, rapaseed, is a bright yellow flowering member of the family Brassicaceae. ''Brassica napus'' is cultivated mainly for its extremely nutritious, oil-rich seed, the third largest source of vegetable oil in the world.

It does not get more complete than that, it is the perfect way to share a photo. This is what we're aiming for on this site: photos with meaning, "share with care", rather than dump-and-go. Not only have you picked that up, you're being a role model in it. I thank you for that, it is a high standard we should all aspire to. Posted 11 years ago
