
The orange fruit dove is a species of bird in the pigeon family Columbidae. One of the most colorful doves, the male has a golden olive head and elongated bright orange "hair-like" body feathers. The golden-olive remiges are typically covered by the long orange wing coverts when perched.

Who knew that doves could be so colorful?! The orange fruit dove (Ptilinopus victor) is endemic to Fiji, where it inhabits forests on several islands. It mainly feeds on small fruits, berries, and insects. {Spotted in Fiji by Mehdh} #JungleDragon #Ptilinopusvictor

During 2022, our community shared 16,586 wildlife photos, representing 4,347 species! That translates into a new species being added every 2 hours! For some more fun stats, the top 3 PHOTO contributors were Christine Young (2,165), Ferdy Christant (1,833), and Albert Kang (1,708). As far as who shared the most SPECIES, Albert Kang was first with 1,068 species, followed by Patomarazul with 464, and Ferdy Christant with 430. Great job, everyone!
