Wild Sarsaparilla - Aralia nudicaulis

I have yet to get good photos of this plant! Grrr ;P

The aromatic rhizomes of this plant are used as a substitute for sarsaparilla. The roots are also used in tea or chewed on their own.

Habitat: Mixed, mesic forest

The Wild sarsaparilla

"Aralia nudicaulis" is a flowering plant of northern and eastern North America which reaches a height of 30–60 cm with creeping underground stems. The roots have been used as substitutes for true Sarsaparilla in herbal medicine.
